Ferro Alloys – Silicon Metal

Nederman MikroPul is a leading supplier of industrial air filtration systems; dust collectors, including baghouses, reverse air filter and collectors, cartridge collectors, and dust evacuation systems.

Ferro alloys refers to various alloys of iron with a high proportion of one or more other elements such as manganese, chrome, nickel or silicon.
They are used in the production of steels and alloys. The alloy impart distinctive qualities to steel and cast iron or serve important functions during production and are, therefore, closely associated with the iron and steel industry, the leading consumer of ferroalloys.

Silicon metal is used in the primary and secondary aluminum industry to improve the strength of Aluminum; which makes it strongly linked to the automobile industry.
Due to its non harmful properties, Silicon is also used as the base product in silicon pastes, lubricants, greases and resins, antifoam agents, fabric softeners and everyday consumer products such as skin and hair care products.

Silicon is also utilized in the fast growing industries of high speed communication and solar energy. The manufacturing of semiconductor chips, optical fiber and liquid crystal displays is made possible due to the conducting properties of Silicon.

Ferro alloys and Silicon metal are mainly produced in Electric Arc Furnaces, by reduction of metal ore using carbon under different forms: wood ships, coal, charcoal, or coke. This process produces large volume of hot dust laden fumes requiring to be filtered before rejection to atmosphere.
Collected particles are more and more often valorized in different applications. Silica fumes (MICROSILICA) is widely used in cement concrete to improve its properties, in particular its compressive strength, bond strength, and abrasion resistance.

Nederman MikroPul (previously FILTER-MEDIA) is collaborating with Electric Arc Furnaces suppliers and Ferro Alloys producers for 40 years, engineering and supplying filtration plants with capacities up to 1.5 millions cubic meters per hour.

Nederman MikroPul is offering as well solutions for the production of MICROSILICA, including storage, densification and packing of Silica fumes.
